People can subscribe to messages or reports generated by your applications rather than your applications hardcoding a list of e-mail addresses to which to deliver the report. This way, if roles change, you simply update the subscriptions rather than updating e-mail addresses in your application.
When subscribed to a category of messages, people can configure filters to fine-tune which messages within the category they wish to receive.
As a MessageMaster administrator, you can set up subscriptions for others. This can give tremendous control to a developer or an IT Manager to be able to ensure that the right staff members are being notified of messages that they are qualified to act upon. For instance, the Help Desk Manager can make sure that Help Desk staff are subscribed to account lockout messages. This way, they can proactively unlock user accounts, or give the user a call to see if they are having trouble.
If there's one piece of software that runs on all of your client machines that's critical, it is your anti-virus software. Ensuring that all your clients have the latest virus definitions is an important task. However, we all know from our experience, that automatic updates can sometimes let us down, and that from time to time, we find a machine out there with definitions several weeks old or even older!
Due to the important nature of out-of-date virus definitions, it is prudent to do periodic checks of your clients to ensure they are all running the latest definitions. This can be done manually, or from a server console if one is provided with the product. Invariably, there will be a few that have fallen out of sync, and need to be corrected and updated.
With MessageMaster, you don't have to wait until you or someone else remembers to check. You can build a quick check into your Logon Script, and if it finds that the definitions on a client machine are more than 7 days old, it can generate a MessageMaster message. You just have to make sure that you or one of your support staff is subscribed to MessageMaster messages from Logon Script, and they will be notified as soon as an out-of-date client is found. On a daily basis!
